EMSB Parents Committee Postpones 2020 Parent Conference Due to COVID-19

Montreal - Tuesday, March 17, 2020

In line with directives from health authorities and the Ministry of Education regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the English Montreal School Board’s Parents Committee (EMSBPC) is postponing the 2020 Parent Conference, originally scheduled for May 2 at John F. Kennedy High School. Although disappointing, the collective health of the organizational team, participants and visitors is an overriding concern. We are confident the extra time will allow us to bring you even more interesting and pertinent speakers at a later date, if possible, next fall.

The EMSBPC’s Parent Conferences are open to all parents, not only EMSB parents. They consist of a day of workshops aimed at helping parents navigate a number of challenges involving their children and teens. Past topics have included what parents should know about cannabis & teens, helping kids through anxiety and stress, dealing with bullying, how to make literacy fun and how to motivate teens.

“We thank everyone who has put a lot of time and effort into organizing this conference, as well as all those who have shown interest in attending,” says Chairman Caroline Phaneuf. “We would also like to thank the EMSB for their continued financial and logistical support for this conference. We apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause and wish you the very best in your continued health and wellbeing.”
