LBPHS Students Visit Holocaust Museum

Students began their Holocaust education with the study of Night, by Elie Wiesel. The novel follows Wiesel and his family’s story through Auschwitz. Following discussions both in English class as well as with Spiritual and Community Animator Joseph Monachino, the students visited the museum itself, solidifying their in-class learning.

“The Holocaust is such a critical and difficult subject matter and it is very important that our students learn about it in school,” said Monachino. “Students were given the time to reflect and respond to what they had learned and seen and this learning opportunity truly enabled and empowered each of them.  It is in this way, and with empowerment such as this, that we can help ensure that events such as the Holocaust never happen again.”
